10 Day Classic Tour

Known to be ‘a whole world in one country’, South Africa offers the diversity of its landscapes and genres… join us and be seduced by its unsurpassed beauty. For those with more time on their hands, this Tour can be extended to 12 or 14 nights, with a side trip to the Drakensberg and/or extension to the Victoria Falls.

 

Day 1 – Arrival Cape Town (100 km)

Transfer to the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. Visit the “Mother City” of Cape Town. Panoramic cable car to the top of Table Mountain.

 

Day 2 –Cape Town – Cape Peninsula (200 km)

Stop at the small fishing harbour of Hout Bay for a cruise to Duiker Island (Seal island). Drive through the Cape of Good Hope nature reserve to Cape Point. Visit to Boulders beach and observe the Cape penguins. Visit the botanical gardens of Kirstenbosch.

 

Day 3 – Cape Town – Wine route (200 km) – Durban

Full day excursion to Stellenbosch and Paarl. Lunch and wine tasting on a wine estate. Visit Franschhoek. Late afternoon – flight to Durban.

 

Day 4 – Durban – Hluhluwe (320 km)

City Tour of Durban. Route to Hluhluwe through Zululand via St Lucia for a cruise on the Estuary.

 

Day 5 – Hluhluwe – Swaziland (310 km)

4×4 Safari in the Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Park. Road to the small Kingdom of Swaziland.

 

Day 6 – Swaziland – Hazyview (260 km)

Discover Swaziland – Visit a candle workshop and a local market. Stop at a glass factory. Route to Mpumalanga via Piggs Peak. Visit the Swazi Cultural village of Matsamo.

 

Day 7 – Hazyview – Kruger Park – Hazyview (200 km)

Full day in the Kruger Park to spot the Big 5 in a bus or open 4×4 vehicles

 

Day 8 – Hazyview – Blyde River Canyon – Burgersfort (300 km)

Visit the principal sites of the Blyde River Canyon : God’s Window, Bourke’s Luck Potholes and the spectacular view of the Three Rondavels. Visit of Pilgrim’s Rest, small gold mining town set back in 1873.

 

Day 9 – Burgersfort – Pretoria (300 km)

Early morning Safari in 4×4 on the Hannah Ranch. Road to Cullinan – Visit of the Diamond Mine.

 

Day 10 – Pretoria – Johannesberg – Departure

City sightseeing tour of Pretoria and the Voortrekker Monument. The house of Paul Kruger, former President of South Africa, and the Union Buildings, the Government’s head office.

Departure for Soweto and lunch in a shebeen (restaurant). Transfer to OR Tambo Airport – Flight to Europe

2 days with 2 safaris in 4×4 per day (early morning and late afternoon) in the Pilanesberg Park, looking for Animals.

 

Day 4: Pilanesberg – Port Elizabeth – Plettenberg Bay

Return to Johannesburg and flight to Port Elizabeth (1h40). Road to Plettenberg Bay (2 1/2h), one of the most beautiful coastal towns on the Garden Route.

 

Day 5: Plettenberg Bay

Discover the area: visit the Monkeyland and Birds of Eden sanctuaries, where a vast range of monkeys and birds species live in their natural habitat, a delightful visit for everyone! Visit the Tsitsikamma forest, Tree top canopy tour, sea kayaking, Whale encounter (in season), skydiving, elephant back safari, quad biking, helicopter flip…

 

Day 6: Plettenberg Bay – Knysna – Sedgefield

Discover the tranquil little town of Knysna and its magnificent lagoon that communicates with the ocean. Eco-excursion by boat to the Featherbed Nature reserve with magnificent views over the lagoon and town. Night in a family suite overlooking the Sedgefield lake.

 

Day 7: Sedgefield – Oudtshoorn – Sedgefield

Discover Oudtshoorn, capital of the Little Karoo made famous for its Ostrich farming (farm visit) and the Cango caves that reveal a fantastic underground world with thousands of stalactites.

 

Day 8 : Sedgefield – Stanford

Visit Mossel Bay, first South African port discovered by the Europeans in 1488. Follow the road to Stanford. Dinner and night in a family suite in a Lodge nestled in a tree-lined valley.

 

Day 9 : Stanford

Enjoy various possible activities at the Lodge : cruise on the Stanford river, hiking or horseriding, or explore the Cape Agulhas area (the southernmost point in Africa)

 

Day 10: Stanford – Hermanus – Cape Town

Visit Hermanus, with the old harbour retracing the history of town, and the Fernkloof nature reserve and its indigenous flora. Road to Franschhoek, where the memory of the French Huguenot who settled in 1688 is kept. Visit of the Huguenot Museum and its memorial. Wine tasting (for the parents !). Late afternoon arrival at your apartment situated in Cape Town’s Waterfront.

 

Days 11/12/13 : Cape Town

3 days to discover the Cape area: Cape Peninsula and Cape of Good Hope, Table Mountain (by cable car), City tour, Kirstenbosch botanical gardens… Departure to Europe on Day 13 late afternoon.

Day 3 – Hazyview / Kruger National Park

Explore the Kruger Park in 4×4 vehicle, kingdom of the “BIG FIVE”. One of the most important nature reserves in Africa with more than 100 mammals, reptiles and bird species roaming freely in untouched nature.

 

Day 4 – Kruger National Park / Elim

Half day in the Park in a bus. Road to Phalaborwa then north to Tzaneen and Elim, famous for its tobacco and tea plantations. Discover the magnificent forests, falls and cycad trees along the road.

 

Days 5 and 6 – Limpopo / Mashatu Private Reserve (Botswana)

Road to Messina – the main road is lined with 100-year old Baobab trees.

After breakfast leave for the Zululand Region. Departure to Empangeni via the coastal road (Umhlanga and Empangeni +/- 2h30). Lunch at your Lodge and afternoon 4×4 Safari in the private game reserve.

 

Days 3 /4 – St Lucia

Morning Safari and drive to St Lucia

Activities in St Lucia: cruise on the estuary, beautiful beaches, traditional Zulu Village, day excursion (8h-16h) to Cape Vidal for a ‘bush and beach’ experience (4×4 Safari, walk and scuba). In season from November to March, night excursion to spot the sea turtles coming out of the ocean to lay their eggs in the dunes! Spectacular during full moon.

 

Day 5 – Hluhluwe Park

Spend the day in the Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Park, the most ancient of South Africa. It shelters more than 84 mammal species, amongst which are the Big 5. Birds and reptile lovers won’t be disappointed either!

Exit from the park and road to the Lodge, situated on a private reserve north of Hluhluwe. Night in a Deluxe Safari-tented lodge.

 

Day 6 – Hluhluwe – Swaziland

In Swaziland, visit the local market and a candle workshop.

Your Guest House is situated in the heart of Summerfields botanical gardens on 96 hectares.

 

Day 7 – Swaziland – Kruger Park

En route to Kruger Park visit the Swazi cultural village of Matsamo late afternoon, sunset 4×4 safari. Traditional dinner around the Boma.

 

Day 8 – Shishangeni Concession / Kruger Park / Hazyview

Early morning 4×4 safari before leaving the lodge. Travel through the National Park towards Hazyview watching game. Night at a guesthouse.

Days 11 and 12 : Mozambique

Leisure time and transfer to Vilanculos airport. Flight to Johannesburg and Europe late afternoon.

Day 11 : Victoria Falls

Guided tour of the Falls and walk in the rain forest. Visit of the village and the craft centre.

 

Day 12 : Victoria Falls / Johannesburg / Departure

Possibility of a helicopter flip above the Falls (15mn) and free time. Flight back to Johannesburg. Connection to Europe

Namibia, Botswana & Victoria Falls Self Drive

18 Day Tour

A comprehensive tour which covers the main attractions Namibia has to offer but also the Caprivi Strip along the border of Angola which contrasts from the mostly dry areas of the country due to the many rivers. The trip continues to the Chobe National Park in the northern part of Botswana which offers a great concentration of Elephants. The trip ends at the Victoria Falls.

 

Day 1: Windhoek

Arrival in Windhoek and transfer to the car rental company in town (4×4 or 2×4). Extensive briefing. Night at a guesthouse or hotel.

 

Day 2 : Windhoek – Sesriem (280km, +/- 5h)

Drive South to the Sossusvlei Region. Stay for 2 nights at one of the many lodges near the entrance to the Namib Naukluft Park.

 

Day 3 : Sesriem – Sossusvlei (+/- 220 km)

Excursion to the famous Sossusvlei dunes a sight which will take your breath away. (The last 5 km either on foot or by 4×4 shuttle. Also of interest is a visit to the Sesriem Canyon.

 

Day 4 : Sesriem – Swakopmund ( 290 km – +/- 5h)

Drive to Swakopmund via Solitaire and the Namib Naukluft Park + visit of Kuiseb Canyon. Night at a guesthouse or hotel of your choice.

 

Day 5 : Swakopmund / Twyfelfontein (330 km > +/- 06h00)

Depart towards Uis, where the Brandberg can be seen, the highest summit of Namibia (2585m). Take a detour to visit the Cape Cross sea-lions reserve. Arrival in Twyfelfontein and visit of the site (rock art paintings). Night at the Camp.

 

Day 6 : Twyfelfontein

Early morning departure for a full day excursion in 4×4 vehicle on the Lodge’s reserve to see rhinos close to the Klip river. Part of the safari is walking ( 1 to 3 h walk maximum).

 

Day 7: Twyfelfontein – Grootberg (120 km, +/- 2h30)

Excursion in 4×4 vehicle, looking for the Desert elephants. Return to the Lodge and leave for Palmwag with your vehicle, region of vast plains covered with red stones. En route, a possibility of a detour to see the petrified forest.

 

Day 8: Grootberg / Etosha (300 km > +/- 05h00)

Depart towards Etosha, one of the most beautiful wildlife scenery in the world, with 114 mammal and 340 birds species. Afternoon at leisure or safari with your vehicle. Night at the camp (chalet)

 

Days 9 and 10 : Etosha (+/- 150 km per day)

Full day Safari with your vehicle. Night at the camp.

 

Day 11 : Etosha / Rundu (370 km > +/- 06h00)

Depart towards Tsumeb, the main town north of Namibia, and Grootfontein, a small town surrounded by cattle ranches. Night at the lodge.

 

Day 12 : Rundu / Kongola (490 km > +/- 06h30)

Leave for Divundu. Possibility to detour to Mahango Park for a safari. Carry on towards Kongola. Night in a lodge close to Mudumu Park.

 

Day 13: Kongola

Land rover excursion on nearby reserves or cruise/fishing on the river. Night at the camp in ‘Tree house’

 

Day 14 : Kongola / Kasane (230 km > +/- 03h00)

Depart for Katima Mulilo and the border towards the Chobe National Park in Botswana. Drop off your vehicle in Kasane and transfer to the Lodge. Afternoon 4×4 safari. 2 Nights at the lodge

 

Day 15 : Kasane

Early morning game drive in 4×4, +/- 3h in Chobe Park. Afternoon, look for the hippos, crocodiles, buffalos and birds on the river enjoying a boat cruise.

 

Day 16 : Kasane / Victoria Falls

Transfer to the Victoria Falls. Free time to visit the Falls . A water drop of 1,7km collapses from a 108m-high cliff at its deepest point. Walk through the tropical forest that faces the Falls. Night in a lodge

 

Day 17 : Victoria Falls

Day at leisure with various possibilities of activities (Zambezi cruise, helicopter flip, village visit). Night at the lodge.

 

Day 18: Victoria Falls / Depart

Days 7/8/9 – Eastern Cape / Private Game reserve

Drive to Port Elizabeth where you leave your vehicle. Transfer to your Lodge situated in the heart of a private game reserve home to the ‘Big 5’, each suite (no TV) has its own private viewing deck, as well as a plunge pool (heated). Day 10 – Port Elizabeth and departure
